Wake me up when September Ends

This week we went through chapters 6-10 in Illustrator. We made landscapes, colorful mosaic-looking art, ying and yang symbols, and gears. We learned how to use a lot of new tools such as live paint, the knife tool, and new uses for the pathfinder tool. I actually really enjoyed this weeks units because i understood how to do most of it on my own, although Brycen did have to help me a couple of times. My favorite chapter this week was by far chapter 10. I really enjoyed using the knife tool to create a rainbow landscape with a colorfully designed hippie van incorporated into it. The coolest thing I’ve made in Illustrator by far has been my header for my blog. Since my tie-dye background was a bad design, I had to change it up so I made it something that I love; a sunflower field. Even better I made a sunflower field with me in it !!

In the next upcoming weeks we also have to decorate the class door for Breast Cancer Awareness. Honestly I have no idea of anything that we could do to decorate the door, but I feel that once one person has some sort of idea and says it out load then everyone else will have some creative idea to incorporate into it. All I know is that we need to include A LOT of pink, because I mean what’s Breast Cancer Awareness without its signature color.

Onto another topic, I am SO ready for September to be over. This month has truly been terrible in and outside of school. Obviously I love D.C. and all of the people and work that we do, but for my other classes that’s a different story. I don’t understand APUSH very much but I think I just need to give it some time so that my brain can completely come out of sleep/ summer mode and I’ll be back on track to getting good grades in that class. Something that completely ruined September even more than it already was is the fact that I got my parking prveledges revoked for a week (insert eye roll). All I want is for October to finally be here because I have a really good feeling about this month. It’s homecoming at my base school and spirit week at AAST. We also have the state fair in October which I’m super stoked about, and we have so many fall festivities going on. Let’s just hope I didn’t jinx it all though and that this month coming up is even a slight bit better than September.

Never making eggs AGAIN !

this week we went through the first 5 chapters of illustrator and let me tell you, i got so confused. everytime that i finally learned how to do something from a chapter, i would get confused on the next step. i honestly was stressed out a lot this week because i thought that i would never understand anything from the illustrator book , but thanks to my buddy Brycen i’ve got all this stuff down great and i can make a pretty impressive robot if i do say so myself. even though i can make robots, i learned that i cannot for the life of me make cartoon eggs. i spent about 30 minutes on the first day just on finding the right shades of beige to make a nice shading effect on the egg, eventually i gave up and just began a different, and a lot simpler tutorial of Dexter from Dexters Labratory. This tutorial came out perfect. it came out nice because it was really simple to make and only involved overlapping shapes till the form of his body and head came up. This week i learned how to use the pathfinder tool which actually comes in handy A LOT and by far is going to be my favorite tool to use. Honestly, i did not really like my state fair photo entry. i feel like i could’ve done so much better if i would have had more time. i don’t think i’ll make it into the showcase and i’m okay with it because i know some people worked really hard on what hey submitted and it turned out really well. i just know that for the next competition i have to come up with something REALLY REALLY good. as for the other photo contests that have been given to us with an opportunity to join, i really don’t know if i will enter them because i’m very self conscious of my work and o feel like it’s not good enough. All i want to be able to grow as a photographer and a designer and i know it will take a lot of time but hopefully i get to the place that i’m proud of my work and want to present it to everyone.

Irma gosh !

This weekend was an extra long weekend due to Irma making an appearance. Honestly kinda thankful that they cancelled school that day because I did not do any of my APUSH homework so I definitely needed that extra day. This weekend I also binge watched at least 4 seasons of Glee and read 2 of the After We Collided books. I also slept ALOT but i still end up feeling like I haven’t slept in 1000000 years and i don’t know why. Once we came back from our day off from the hurricane I finished and turned in my pinterest board project. I made boards about pop art, Animated GIFs, character development, and Oceanography. I actually learned a lot about oceanography more than anything while doing my boards. Each picture that showed Ocean photography had links that had many different photographers portfolios with all the pictures that they’ve taken. I even learned how to use illustrator this week and honestly i really hated it when i first started because im very used to using photoshop but I really enjoyed working on the program with the Wacom board. The board makes it a lot easier to draw what i want free handed without having to use a mouse. Once I have more experience and skill in illustrator i would really like to play around with drawing portraits with it. My absolute goal is to be able to draw a portrait of my dog on illustrator preferably using the Wacom pad. I want to learn how to due subtle detail from the eyes to the fur. Hopefully this drawing on the computer helps me progress to learning to animate. On illustrator this week though I drew Pickle Rick. My goal was really to draw something funny but that also would be enjoyable to take 45 minutes just to come up with the outline.

09/11/17

This week at AAST was a very eventful week for me. I joined Yearbook, Student Council, and I’m joining TSA. I also presented my first project in DC about Animation in Social Media. I wasn’t as nervous as I thought I would be but I definitely need to work on looking at my audience more and not stuttering. I also need to work on staying up to present longer, once i’m by the board i feel like i’m ready to present but as soon i start to talk i get jittery. I really enjoyed Ella’s presentation on Documentary Photography. I loved learning about Photographers that travel the world to capture photos that express so much emotion. This week was also my first week at AAST that i finally felt good about going here. The first week I felt like I had made a mistake and that maybe I should just reconsider going back to my base school. Now I feel very pleased with my decision on staying at AAST and my decision on joining D.C. I’ve made so many new friends and a lot of them have similar interest as me. I feel like I will really enjoy DC and all the programs and skills that we’re gonna learn. I decided what I was going to submit to the state fair as well and I am submitting a piece under photography. I’m finally getting good at all this camera stuff and i really enjoy working with and editing photos. Maybe I’ll enjoy it more than animation. This week I got my results for my career assessments and i was very surprised with my results. I got a lot of results that consisted with either teaching or jobs involving children. I never really thought about being a teacher let alone a kindergarten teacher before but I actually would really enjoy getting to teach little kids. My other two options that I really enjoyed getting and did a little research on was Graphic Designer and Veterinarian. My favorite result that I got was Veterinarian because i would really love to get a job where i can help animals.
